Near Southside Arts - ArtsGoggle NEW DATE: April 23, 2022
ArtsGoggle is Fort Worth's premier festival of local arts. This free to the
public, family-friendly event annually hosts more than 1,000 visual artists,
50 musical performances, artistic displays of every kind, food, drink, and fun
for everyone. Unlike any event in town, it focuses on
highlighting the work of local artists, musicians, and performers of all
mediums and experience levels. It attracts a crowd of 60,000+ patrons
that are as diverse as the Near Southside neighborhood where the event is
hosted. Visitors are invited to park their cars and rediscover this revitalized
urban neighborhood by foot or bicycle, including Fort Worth Bike Sharing bikes.
It started 19 years ago as the Near Southside's indoor gallery night
designed to showcase the district's revitalization efforts via
newly-established business hosting one-day open houses in partnership with
local artists.

Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is the city's largest annual event and a
time-honored tradition, bringing visitors entertainment for 23 days, January
14-February 5. Held the first Saturday of every Stock Show, it's the world's
largest all-western parade. This means no motorized vehicles at all! Stagecoaches,
equestrian troops, marching bands and more make their way down the streets of
downtown Fort Worth as 100,000-plus spectators look on. January 15 at 11 a.m.
Two of the rodeos being held highlight the influence of Hispanic and African-American
culture present in the rodeo today: Best of Mexico Celebracion (January 16) and
Cowboys of Color Rodeo (January 17). The Shock Show is held at one of the finest
horse facilities in the United States, Will Rogers Equestrian Center. Enthusiasts

Nashville Duo Recreates Sound of Legendary Simon & Garfunkel at The Scott Theatre.
Get ready for a nostalgic night of the music of Simon & Garfunkel performed by
the folk duo, Swearingen & Kelli. They'll deliver a true tribute to the sound
of the 1960's Greenwich Village, NY coffee house performances of the most famous
folk-rock duo of our time on stage at The Community Arts Center gem of a venue,
The Scott Theater. AJ Swearingen has been performing this music for twenty

Historic Fort Worth - Thistle Hill and McFarland House
Built in 1899, Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House is Fort Worth's premier example of
Queen Anne-style Victorian architecture. Turrets, gables, copper finials, a slate
tile roof and a porch of red sandstone and marble highlight the late-Victorian
exterior. The interior includes original ornate oak mantles, cornices, coffered
ceilings, paneling and parquet floors. The house is available for individual and
group tours. *For everyone's safety, Thistle Hill will be closed for tours until
further notice.* One of the most impressive surviving mansions of the “cattle baron”
era, Thistle Hill is situated on a 6.5-acre plot in the Near Southside and was purchased
in 1903-04. This Georgian Revival-style mansion has been restored to its 1912 condition
and is listed on the National Register. The nearly 11,000-square-foot, red brick structure
was once the scene of lavish dinners and parties as its owners...

Japanese Garden - Transient/Bittersweet Beauty
he Fort Worth Japanese Garden was completed in 1973. It is a traditional stroll garden
with winding paths through the landscapes and around ponds. The Garden consists of 7.5
acres filled with cherry trees, Japanese maples, magnolias, bamboo, bridges, and ponds
which are home to over 1,200 Koi fish. Except in the spring, there are few flowers
blooming in the Japanese Garden due to the Japanese practice of Mono no Aware. Mono
no Aware translates to “transient/bittersweet beauty”, meaning if the garden was always
blooming, it would never be special. Wedding tours of the Japanese Garden are available
by appointment (817-463-4182).Festivals are hosted in the spring and fall in the Japanese Garden.

Grapevine Vintage Railroad - Stockyards National Historic District
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels along the historic Cotton Belt Route between
Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Railroad is serviced by two vintage
locomotives - "Puffy" the 1896 steam locomotive, which is the oldest continuously
operating steam engine in the South, and a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive. Passengers
enjoy riding in authentic 1920s and 1930s Victorian-style coaches as they take a step
back in time and experience train travel as it was in the glory days of the expanding west.

The Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT®) and Fort Worth Botanic Garden
invites visitors to the newest exhibit "Topiaries in the Garden," running Oct. 16, 2020,
through Jun. 30, 2021. Featuring 12 plant-based animal shapes, such as elephants,
giraffes, and butterflies, the displays are sure to stimulate a sense of wonderment
and fascination. "Seeing the animal topiaries throughout the Garden gives visitors yet
another reason to get outside and enjoy this beautiful fall weather," said Vice President
for Horticulture and Assistant Director Bob Byers.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing - Fort Worth
The BEP's public Tour and Visitor Center located in Fort Worth, Texas is a great place
to learn about U.S. currency. Visitors can see where billions of dollars are printed
from an enclosed walkway, which is suspended above the production floor! Over half of
the nation's currency order is produced in Fort Worth. Available before or after the
free self-guided tour, the experience includes an informative theater film, and visitors
have the opportunity to walk through two floors of interactive exhibits and displays
showcasing currency history and the intricate art of currency manufacturing. Also
located in the visitor center is the Moneyfactory Gift Shop where the public can
purchase souvenir items including uncut currency sheets and other specialty currency
products. Restrooms and vending machines are available.

Tandy Hills Natural Area - A 160 Acre Indigenous Prairie
Tandy Hills Natural Area (THNA) is a 200+-acre indigenous remnant of Fort Worth prairie
located in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. The land was obtained by the City of Fort Worth
Parks and Community Services Department in 1960 and designated a "natural area" in 1987.
Noted for its unusually complete collection of prairie flora, THNA contains more than
1500 species. The show of spring wildflowers is unsurpassed in the Metroplex. The land is
a living example of how most of Fort Worth and the Great Plains appeared in predevelopment
times. THNA is adjacent to I-30 and less than 5 minutes from downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
The fact that it has never been plowed or developed and survived into the 21st century in
relatively pristine condition is remarkable.

Stockyards Championship Rodeo - Upcoming Events
The world's only year round rodeo every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 pm in the
historic Fort Worth Cowtown Coliseum. The two hour Stockyards Championship Rodeo
maintains a strong commitment to visitors looking for an authentic Western Cowboy
Experience. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the Rodeo competitions start inside the Cowtown
Coliseum at 8:00 pm. Competitions generally last from 1.5-2 hours depending on the number
of contestants. The rodeo ends with just enough time to make it to the 10:30 pm concert
at Billy Bob's Texas, right next door. Rodeo is a competitive sport involving a series of
riding and roping contests derived from the working skills of the American cowboy.

Stockyards National Historic District - Step into the West
Fort Worth is where the West begins, and nothing embodies Western heritage better than
the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. From the original brick walkways
to the wooden corrals, every inch of the Stockyards tells the true history of Texas's
famous livestock industry. The Fort Worth Herd is the world's only twice daily cattle drive,
held every day at 11:30 AM & 4:00 PM in the Fort Worth Stockyards. When the railroad arrived
in 1876, Fort Worth became a major shipping point for livestock, so the city built the
Union Stockyards, two and a half miles north of the Tarrant County Courthouse, in 1887.

Trinity Trails - Fishing, Kayaking, Horse Trails, Geocaching
TRWD's 100-plus miles of Trinity Trails remain open to the public. However, it is
imperative people continue to practice proper social distancing measures so these
may remain open for the public to get fresh air and exercise during these trying
times. Tarrant Regional Water District, the City of Fort Worth and Streams & Valleys
work together to manage, promote, and enhance the Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. TRWD
manages the trail system as a whole, providing access to recreation destinations along

Forest Park Miniature Railroad
Over 60 years later, the miniature railway has established itself as a local
tourist destination and Forth Worth Landmark. Since its opening day, riders
have flocked to the Forest Park Miniature Railway for a peaceful retreat around
Ft. Worth's Trinity Park. From the depot, the train heads east and then cuts
north to cross the Trinity River on one of the trains longest trestle bridges.
Throughout its 5-mile journey, the train travels under the highway and proceeds
into the tranquil Trinity Park. The complete 5-mile circuit features two depots
and six bridges.
