ORIGINAL WORKS SERIES Arts Fort Worth - The Texas Book of Beasts! Performance: Friday -Sunday, March 10-26, 2023 | Hardy and Betty Sanders Theatre Are you ready for hilarious night out? You and a plus-one are invited to a special preview of this year's Original Works Series production of Jeff Irvin’s “The Texas Book of Beasts!” Experience this new and original play about learning to recognize a sharp brain and a good heart when an idealistic biologist brings together a diverse community to save an endangered toad's habitat from a encroaching development through raucous public meetings. Featuring a property developer, a university professor, and a toad, this story is told through metaphors in verse, interjections in unison, and group movements that mimic Texas fauna. After the performance, Arts Fort Worth invites you to stay for a Meet & Greet with the cast. Limited edition posters will be available at the event, along with Texas - themed theater snacks.   ABOUT ORIGINAL WORKS SERIES Now in its third year, the Original Works Series program embodies the Arts Fort Worth mission to promote, nurture, and support the arts by creating opportunities for new and emerging playwrights to showcase their work. In 2023, eight selected scripts, from 88 submitted works, will receive a live reading in conjunction with the fully-staged production of "The Texas Book of Beasts." From those selected scripts, a panel of theater professionals select one submission to become a fully staged production in 2024. Arts Fort Worth partners with independent North Texas theater production companies to produce the readings, creating opportunities for Arts Fort Worth to dig deeper into our values of inclusion, equity, and access. Original Works Series productions take place in the Hardy & Betty Sanders Theatre at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.
