ARTIST BIO
Greg Brown was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 but grew up in the Dallas area.
From 1993-2001 he worked for Neiman Marcus at the downtown Dallas location as the
Men's Designer Sportswear specialist. When he left the store, he had many Gianni
Versace ties he didn't want to discard, especially since Versace had been
murdered in 1997.
In 2007, Greg had the idea to paint with the ties. Thru trial-and-error, what
has been created is a collection of Versace Tie Paintings. Each canvas is
painted in correspondence to a certain tie and then the tie is permanently
attached. Most importantly, each tie is pre-death which Gianni himself had a
hand in creating. As time goes by, though, these ties are becoming less
accessible.
Over the years, Greg's paintings have been shown in many galleries and featured
in the American Airlines' Admirals Clubs in Miami and Chicago. His paintings
are in private collections from Beverly Hills to Boston. As of the spring of
2020, Greg is represented in Jerusalem at the Ivantiques Gallery and at the
Galerie Beaute Du Matin Calme in Paris.
In the United States, he is represented in Dallas at the World Trade Center in
the permanent showroom of Artistic Transfer #555.
In Ft. Worth, he is represented by Art on The Boulevard.
Greg strives to merge the concept of high fashion and unique art together on
each canvas.
Keeping the designs of Gianni Versace alive and making people smile are his
motivations.
